Carved Quilts

My brother, John, made me some hand carved quilt blocks for my birthday.

He is very talented and works as a carpenter. His skill goes beyond that. I love the antique finish and the color combination.

He is taking orders if you are interested.

Mystery Shuffle

It is the end of March and the end of the Mystery Weekend #43 sessions.

I finished my quilt top and I think it is beautiful. The fabric and the pattern together ended up looking a little Native American.

The quilt measures 93"x109" and is made of a total 1529 pieces of fabric. It is call Log Cabin Shuffle.

I has so much fun making the quilt. Look for the pattern at Glad Creations in a couple of months.

Los Burritos Para Mis Padres

Caroline and I spent part of the day yesterday with our parents making food to put in the freezer.

We are hoping that this will make it easier for them to have healthy and nutritious meals to eat.

One of the recipes we made is a favorite of Caroline's, Bean Burritos.

The recipe is easy to make, very nutritious and delicious! Give it a try!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Steve got me a very thoughtful birthday present. A big board at Patchwork Alley.

My present to myself was a Rowenta pressure iron and steamer.

He also helped me set up my cutting table.

I've got quite the set up now in my sewing room, which Steve knows as the basement.

A Quilt for the Chair

Steve has this antique chair in the dining room. It used to be his grandmother's.

I thought it needed a quilt to go with it. I made a Scrap Basket quilt using 30's reproduction fabric.

I think they look great together.

You can see the quilt in person at this year's Minnesota Quilters show.
