The family that sews together, stays together

So I've been on vacation for the last week in Utah for a family reunion. Guess what? I couldn't help but talk my sisters into sewing with me. We do an auction to raise money for the expense of trying to get my 13 siblings together every year. I got a great idea from my friend and coworker, Cheri. She suggested that I make a little bag out of dice fabric and include dice and instructions to play Farkle, which is a family favorite. She was so helpful she even picked out my fabric. Here is a picture of the bag that I came up with. I think it turned out pretty well. In case you are wondering what Farkle is here is a link to the rules. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farkle You should try it out or invite me to a party and I'll bring my dice.

My sister Caroline is very talented! She put together some tote bags, that of course I had to buy. They are purse sized, so of course, I'll have to find someone deserving to give them to. Here is a picture of my new totes. Aren't they cute!? She used a charm pack for the outside of each of the totes and a coordinating fabric for the handles and lining.

For one of the meals at the reunion, my brother and I put the meal together. My brother made beef curry stew and I made jambalaya. My mother can't eat meat, so we decided to also make ratatouille. I'm including the recipe. It is a lot of chopping but very delicious and totally worth it. Here is a link to the website. http://www.oduamy.com/best_ratatouille.html I hope you enjoy it as much as my family did.

The man has a purse

So the first post is a finished product. Wahoo! And it is a purse. I work part-time at Glad Creations in Minneapolis, MN. Here is a link to their website, http://www.gladcreationsquilts.com/. It is a great shop and I love it. I even loved it enough to make a shop sample of a purse. Well I guess it is really more of a bag. It is made using 5 asian fabrics and the "Grids and Grommets" pattern by Indygo Junction.

I made the Large Jelly Roll version. I think it turned out well. If you want to check out it out in person, come to the shop. I'll be there tomorrow, so I may even be modelling it.
